Dear Wynd family,
Happy summer (or winter if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere) everyone! An update is long overdue as it’s been almost half a year since we posted to here.
First of all, we wanted to thank you all again for supporting us from the very beginning. You the Kickstarter community were the reason that we were able to bring Wynd to life. Since we started manufacturing last April, we have shipped Wynd units to users in over 80 countries on every continent! We have received tons of notes of support and personal stories about how Wynd has been able to help people everywhere breathe healthy.
Since that first shipment, we have strived to continue to make improvements to Wynd. These improvements on the hardware side include adding features such as Night Mode, extended battery life, easier to read instructions, and more. On the software side, we’ve released over 23 updates to both iOS and Android over the past 12 months, and have added features such as air quality graph, Tracker Night Mode, and support for viewing both AQI and PM2.5. We are still not perfect and continue to try to make improvements. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any feedback or questions.
Our goal is to help you breathe clean, healthy air wherever you go. The Wynd personal air purifier and tracker is our first product, and we are working on an exciting new product to be released later this year :)
We aren’t yet ready to release too many details of the new product, but we would love to hear from you. We would love to better understand what you want (or don’t want) in the air you breathe, and how your devices can ensure you’re breathing the best air.

We hope that you’re enjoying Wynd (for the 95% of you that have received it, that is). For those that haven’t received your shipping information yet—we’re still working through several hundred more orders, so thank you for your patience!

We’ve gotten some questions about features displayed in our Kickstarter campaign that aren’t in our product yet. The reason some of these features haven’t been built yet is because:

Night mode - Turn off the lights on the purifier
This is live! This feature was actually in the initial release of the hardware, but we didn’t highlight it in the instruction manual. Try it out!
Night mode - Turn off the lights for the tracker
This feature is one of our most requested, and we’re working on it right now. Tracker Night Mode should be launched within the month.
Insights - the air quality graph
We want to launch this feature in the next few months. It’s not ready yet because we fell behind on Tracker data caching (basically, being able to store the air quality data on the Tracker itself). While we’re already 80% completed on the app side, we just need finish the firmware side of things.
Automatic filter reordering
We are currently figuring out if this makes sense to launch within the next few months. We want to make sure that our end-to-end filter ordering logistics are smooth before we add a subscription service on top. This feature is a bit complex because it requires mobile payment systems, storing shipping info, robust security, a transparent user experience that doesn’t “trick” people into subscribing, and more. In addition, a large percentage of our backers chose to order filters in bulk as it’s more cost-effective. Right now, as a placeholder for this feature, you can get alerted when your filter life is low, and order more filters by tapping that order button.
Insights - showing how much you’ve filtered
We’re working on this feature and we want to launch it in the next few months.
Better instructions and onboarding
We heard from you that it would be helpful to be “walked through” how to use Wynd when you open the app. We’re currently designing this process, and we want to launch this in the next 3-5 months.
Air quality notifications
We’re working on this, and it should be out in the next month or two. We know notifications are a super-important feature and it’s crucial for the app’s usefulness.
There are about 150 orders remaining to be delivered. For the most part, these orders should ship out this week. There are some other orders that are currently on hold awaiting approval from the backer side:
There are also 230 people that haven’t answered their Wynd BackerKit survey (where we asked which color device they want and their shipping address), so we can’t ship their device until they fill out their survey. We suspect some people may have used their “spam email” instead of their primary email for their Kickstarter account, so they may have missed the BackerKit email. If you think this might be the case for you, check your Kickstarter email account and search for “BackerKit” or “Wynd”. If you can’t find it, email us at [email protected].
For those that didn’t get a chance to order on Kickstarter (or those that want to order more Wynd products), we will begin manufacturing our next Wynd batch in mid-June and should have more in stock in early July. You can still pre-order now on our website (hellowynd.com) for a discount.
Extra filters
Some of you might not have gotten your extra filters yet. This is because we're backlogged on filter manufacturing but decided to go ahead and ship your Wynd units instead of waiting. You should be receiving all of your extra filters in the next couple weeks. Thanks for your patience!
